Kirje Letter

Emilia on kirjoittanut tänään pitkän kirjeen joulupukille. Hän käytti kirjoittamiseen tietokonetta. Hän kiitti viimevuotisista lahjoista ja kertoi olleensa kiltti ja auttaneensa äitiä. Lisäksi hän kertoi oman ja pikkuveljensä lahjatoiveet.

Emily has computed a long letter to Santa Claus. She thanked  for the gifts she got last year and told him that she has been kind and that she has helped mother. Furthermore she told her own and his brother´s wishlists.

Hän kertoi joulupukille myös, että hänellä on sänkynsä alla iso laatikko. Muut perheenjäsenet eivät tiedä laatikosta mitään. Arvaatko mitä laatikossa on?

She told also, that she has a big box under her bed. The other familymembers don´t know about the box. Can you guess the  contents of the box?

Hänellä on laatikossa pieniä lahjapaketteja. Hän haluaa auttaa joulupukkia näillä lahjoilla.

She has small gifts in the box. She is going to help Santa with these gifts.

Valokuva-albumi Photo album

Isoisä on ottanut esille vanhan valokuva-albumin ja laatikollisen irtovalokuvia. Valokuvia on kiva katsella aina silloin tällöin ja niiden katsominen tuo mieleen kaikenlaisia muistoja.
Isoäiti on saanut ison kukkavaasin, johon hän on poiminut puutarhasta keltaisia tulppaaneja.

Minun intohimoni on minitavaroiden tekeminen. Ostokseni ovat pääasiassa materiaaleja. Haluaisin kyllä ostaa useammin valmiita tavaroita, mutta se ei tällä hetkellä ole taloudellisesti mahdollista. Nyt olen ostanut Mini-Halin valokuva-albumitarvikepaketin. Tekemiseen ei mennyt aikaa puolta tuntia kauempaa.

Grandpa has taken up the old photo album and a box of photos. It is nice to watch photos every now and then, and watching them brings to mind all sorts of memories.

Grandmother has received a big flower vase to which she has picked yellow tulips from the garden.

My passion is to make mini items. My purchases are mainly materials. I would like to buy more finished goods more often, but it is not currently economically possible. Now I have purchased Mini-Hali´s photo album kit. It took not more than half an hour to make it.

Iloista äitienpäivää! Happy Mother´s Day!

Monessa perheessä on aamu alkanut tänään samalla tavalla kuin Emiliankin perheessä. Äiti sai kahvitarjottimen sänkyyn. Tarjottimella oli myös pieni lahjapaketti ja kaksi korttia, joista toinen oli Emilian tekemä ja toinen Eetun tekemä.

This morning has started at many homes in the same way than at Emily´s  home. Mother got coffee tray in her bed. There were a tiny gift box and two cards on the tray. The cards were made by Emily and Eetu.

  Isä on leiponut herkullisen kakun Emilian kanssa.

Father has baked a delicious cake with Emily.

Äidille on ostettu ruukkuhortensia.

They has bought a pot hortensia for mom.

Emilia selitti Eetulle, miten tänä päivänä ei kannata kiukutella ollenkaan.

Emily explained to Eetu that today is not worth tantrum

 Äiti oli ommellut itselleen mekon, jonka hän puki aamulla päälleen. Saamassaan lahjapaketissa oli rannekoru ja kaulanauha. Ne sopivat hänen mekkonsa kanssa yhteen hyvin.

Mother has sewn herself a dress. She put it on in the morning. There were a bracelet and pearl necklace in the gift package.  They were perfect with the dress.

Tänään on aurinko paistanut aamusta lähtien. Mekolla tarkenee hyvin. Ei tarvita sukkahousuja.
Hyvää äitienpäivää kaikille äideille!

The sun has shined from the morning. The dress is warm enough. No need for tights.

Ostoksia Some shopping

Mumma ja paappa ovat vielä Emilian kotona. Tänään he olivat ostoksilla lasten kanssa. Lapset tiesivät juuri tarkalleen, mitä he kaupasta haluavat. Tietenkin hauskoja vapputavaroita.

The grandparents are still at their visit. They were shopping today with the children.  Emily and Eetu knew exactly, what they wanted to get from the shop. Of course some funny goods for the celebration of the First of May.

Lapset ovat kovasti tyytyväisiä ostoksiin. 

The children are very pleased with the goods.

Kaikki samat tavarat kummallekin: vappuhuiska, hyrrä, pilli ja serpentiiniä.

Vieraita Grandma and grandpa

Emilia on saanut mumman ja paapaan vieraakseen. He vierailevat harvoin, sillä he asuvat kaukana maaseudulla. Mummalla on laukussaan hänelle tuliaisia. Mitähän laukussa mahtaa olla?

Grandma and grandpa have arrived today. They visit very seldom, because they live far away in the countyside. Grandma have something for Emily. Can you guess, what it might be.

Ihana-nimisiä askartelulehtiä. Lehti on hänelle tuttu. Hän on lainannut niitä kirjastosta, mutta on kiva saada niitä omaksi. 

There were some magazines in her bag. The name Ihana means Lovely.  Emily knows this is a good magazine. She has borrowed them from the library every now and then.

Lehdistä löytyy aina kivoja ohjeita. Mumma kertoi, että ainakin uusimmassa lehdessä on jokin miniatyyrin ohje. Se täytyy heti etsiä.

The magazines include always good tutorials and tips. Grandma told her,  that there is a tutorial for some miniature in the latest issue. She has to look for it at once.

Paappa kyselee Emilialta, millainen koulupäivä hänellä on tänään ollut. Kiva päivä on ollut, sillä kukaan ei ollut sairaanakaan. 

Vanhemmat ovat vielä töissä ja Eetu on päivähoidossa, mutta he tulevat pian.

Grandpa was interested in Emily´s schoolday. It was OK, because nobody was sick.

The parents are still at work and Eetu is at playschool, but they are coming soon.

Pääsiäisnoidat ovat tänään olleet liikkeellä talosta taloon. Emilia ja Eetu ovat myös virponeet. Palkaksi on saatu suklaamunia. Olohuoneen pöydällä olevan munan sisältä löytyi pieni purjevene. Ohje munan tekemiseen löytyy Maria Malmstömin kirjasta Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi. Vaasissa on tulppaanien kanssa pajun oksia. Oksat ovat merkkinä keväästä.

Witches have today gone from door to door. Emily and Eetu have also dressed up as witches. They got chocolate eggs as reward. On the coffee table there is a half eaten egg. There was a tiny sailing boat in it. The tutorial for this egg is from Maria Malmström´s book Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi. There are yellow tulips with willow brances in the vase. The willow brances are as a sign of spring.

Emilialla on monta suklaamunaa korissaan. Hän on kasvattanut myös rairuohoa lautaselle ja tuonut pajun oksia maljakkoon narsissien kanssa. 

Emily has many chocolate eggs in her basket. She has also grown grass on a plate and brought willow twigs in a vase with narcissus. To grow grass is also one of our traditions at Easter.

Emilia sai suukkojakin. Hän maistoi yhtä. Hyvältä maistui! Rasian printti löytyi Karoliinan Facebook-sivuilta. Kiitos siitä.

Emily got "kisses" (I don´t know the English name for this sweet. It is like foam with chocolate icing. She tasted one and it was very good! I found the print of the box on Karoliina´s Facebook-pages. Thanks!

Eetukin sai korillisen munia. Hänen ensimmäisestä munastaan löytyi myös pieni purjevene.

Eetu got also many eggs to his basket. He found a tiny sailing boat of his first egg.

Every room is decorated with Easter decorations. This is the second picture of the living room.

Meillä täällä Pohjanmaalla virpovat pääsiäisnoidat vasta tällä viikolla. Virpomista varten on Emilia tehnyt näin kukkamaisen virpomisoksan.

The kids dress up as witches and go from house to house on Palm Sunday (almost the whole of Finland) or Easter Saturday (The Ostrobotnia area in Finland) and give them Easter eggs or candy. On that day kids dressed as witches come to the door and follow a ritual called virpominen that dates back centuries. They wave the willow twigs and recite an old verse. Then they give one branch to the neighbour and collect their reward Easter egg or candy.
Emily made this vulnerable twig for herself.

 Virpomisoksat tehdään pajun oksista, joihin liimataan värikkäitä höyheniä. Lisäksi niihin voi tehdä silkkipaperista tai jostakin muusta materiaalista kukkia ja muita koristeita.

The willow twigs are decorated with colorful feathers and paper flowers.

Askartelin kummallekin nukkekodin lapselle pahvisen yllätysmunan pikkuisia herkkuja varten. Tämä vaalean punainen muna on Emilialle. Ohje munarasian tekemiseen löytyy Maria Malmströmin blogista.

I made Easter surprize eggsfor both of the children in the dollhouse. This pink one is for Emily. Maria Malmström has made an excellent tutorial for this.

Munien maalausta Painting eggs

Emilia odottaa ystäväänsä Sannia maalaamaan pääsiäismunia. Niitä maalataan vesiväreillä.

Emily is waiting for her friend, Sanni, to paint Easter eggs with her. They are going to use water colors.

"Sanni, voit maalata joko pastellisävyillä tai kirkkailla sävyillä" 

"Sanni, you can use either pastel or bright colours"

Aika kului nopeasti ja tuloksena syntyi monta kaunista munaa. Sannin piti lähteä kotiin aivan liian aikaisin. Huomenna jatketaan toisenlaisilla pääsiäisaskarteluilla.

Time passed quickly and the result was many beautiful eggs. Sanni had to leave home too early. Tomorrow they are going to continue by doing something else.

Jokaisessa maassa vietetään vuosittaisia juhlapäiviä eri tavoin. Meillä Suomessa pääsiäisenä syödään toiseksi eniten suklaata joulun jälkeen ja Emiliakin on varannut kaksi pientä kohvehtirasiaa lipaston päälle. Pienemmässä rasiassa on pieniä suklaamunia.

Every country has different ways to celebrate annual festivals. In Finland we have two significant  periods when we eat chocolate candies a lot. The first is Christmas and the second is Easter. That is why Emily has two small chocolate boxes on her chest of drawers.There are small chocolate eggs in the smaller box.

Tulppaaneja tänäänkin Tulips also today

Tein tulppaaneja myös tänään. Kukat ovat Hurauskadun vaaseissa. Kiitos niistä vielä.

Tulppaaneja Tulips

Meillä on vielä maa lumen peitossa ja öisin on aika kylmä. Äiti on neulonut sinisen peitteen, sillä hän on usein viluinen. Aurinko on vihdoinkin ilmestynyt taivaalle ja paistaa. Tästä syystä mieli tekee hankkia keväisiä kukkia. Tulppaanit kukkivat omassa puutarhassa vasta toukokuussa, mutta nukkekotiin niitä on helppo tehdä paperista.

 There is still snow on the ground and it is pretty cold at nights. Mother has knitted a blue blanket, because she has very often cold. The sun is finally shining  and it has appered on the sky. That is why it is nice to buy spring flowers. The tulips in the garden will bloom not earlier than in may, but is it easy to make tulips from paper for the dollhouse.

Nämä tulppaanit ovat äidin ompeluhuoneessa. Siellä on myös uusin Nukkekoti-lehti äidin ompelukorin vieressä. Korissa on tarpeellisia tavaroita kuten mittanauha, sakset, nappeja, lankaa, pitsiä ja nauhoja.

These tulips are in mother´s sewing room. There is also the latest Dollhouse Magazine on the table next to mother´s sewing basket.  (The magazine is published by the Finnish Dollhouse Association.)There are necessary goods such as measuring tape, scissors, buttons, thread, lace and ribbons in the basket.

 Lehti on jäänyt pöydälle ja Emilia huomaa sen. Hänellä on nukkekoti omassa huoneessaan ja hän on kiinnostunut myös lehdestä hyvin paljon. Eniten häntä kiinnostavat ohjeet, mutta usein ne ovat hänen ikäiselleen vielä liian vaikeita. Äidin kanssa voidaan yhdessä tehdä uusia tavaroita sitten, kun äiti ehtii. Äiti on virkannut Emilialle TV katsellessaan puseron. Emilian mielestä se on kiva.

The magazine has been left on the table and Emily notices it. She has a dollhouse of her own in her room and she is interested also in the magazine very much. She likes the tutorials most but they are very often too difficult for her. She will make new goods with mother, when she will have time. Mother has crocheted a new lace sweater for Emily when watching TV. Emily likes it very much.

Tuulisena päivänä On a windy day

 Marianne on tänään ollut ostoksilla. Hän osti villalankoja, sillä ne olivat halpoja. Hän aikoo ostaa niitä vielä lisää toisena päivänä.

Marianne has been today shopping. She bought wool yarns, because they were cheap. She is going to buy them even more on another day.

Hän on neulonut itselleen paksun ja lämpimän villatakin. Malli on hyvä, mutta väri olisi voinut olla joku. kirkkaampi.

She has knitted a warm cardigan for herself. The model is perfect, but the colour could have been brighter.

Emilialla on kiva värityskirja. Hän sai sen joulupukilta.

Emily has a nice coloring book. She got it from Santa Claus.

Kirja on pöllökirja. Näistä pöllöistä hän pitää eniten ja aikoo värittää ne ensin.

                   The book is an owl book. These owls she likes most and will color them firt.

Joulukalenterin 12.. 13., 14., ja 15.luukku

Kahdentenatoista päivänä Jenna löysi kalenteriluukustaan kuusenkoristenauhoja kahta eri väriä, kynttilän sammuttimen ja piparirasian.

On the 12th day Jenna got tinsel garlands in two colours, a candle snuffer and a box of gingerbread cookies.

Kolmantenatoista päivänä olin paketoinut kaksi sydänmukia ja lautasta sekä herkulliset leivokset.
Olen tehnyt astioiden kuviot Water Slide tarroilla.

On the 13th day I gave her two mugs and plates with heart decoration and delicious cakes. I have used Water Slide decals in decoration of the china.

14. päivänä kaksi leivoslautasta lisää ja kaksi lasipurkkia samalla sydänkuviolla.

On the 14th day Jenna got two more plates and glass jars.

15. päivänä Jenna sai kuusiaiheisen tarjottimen, kaksi glögilasia ja glögiä.

I made two glogg tumblers and a bottle of Christmas glogg on a tray to Jenna on the 15th day.

Joulukalenterin 8., 9., 10. ja 11. luukku

Jennan keittiön kaapeissa on tilaa vielä tälläisille tavaroille. Hän sai nämä 8. päivän luukusta.

There is a lot of space in Jenna´s kitchen cupboard.She got these gifts: bottles and containers on the 8th of December.

Joulukalenterin 9. päivänä Jenna sai tekemäni terveelliset täytetyt letut.

On the 9th of December she got these healthy pancakes which I made from Fimo.

Joulun aikana on kiva lueskella. Perheen miesväki sai sarjakuvia ja äidille Tuulen viemää -kirjat.  Nämä Jenna löysi 10. päivänä joulukalenteristaan.


It is nice to spend time in reading books and comics. She got the books from me on the 10th of December. There were comic books and Gone with the wind -books in the package.

11. päivänä olin paketoinut  tekemäni koristeellisen piimäjuuston, paprikatäytteisiä oliiveja ja lautasellisen salaattiaineksia. (Juusto on tehty Marian ohjeella.)

Jenna got on the 11th day  a cheese which is made of buttermilk, olives filled with peppers and a plate of different kinds of salad and  cucumbers. (The cheese is made according to Maria´s tutorial.)


P.S. Olen pahoillani, että joulukalenterini on vähän  myöhässä. Pakettien saada on kuitenkin pysytynyt avaamaan pakettinsa oikeina päivinä ja sehän on tärkeintä.
