Apulainen Helper

 Äiti on ollut tänään joulupukin apulainen. Hän on tehnyt lahjapaketteja, mutta kesken kaiken on pitänyt lähteä keittämään ruokaa ja kaikki tavarat ovat jääneet levälleen.

(Pöydällä on kirjasta tehty joulukorttiteline, jossa kirjan sivu on taitettu kahtia. Itselläni on sellainen isossa koossa ja tykkään siitä paljon.)

Mother has been todays Santa´s helper. She has wrapped gifts, but she had to go to the kitchen to cook food. And that is why the goods are spread on the floor and on the table

There is a Christmas Card holder on the table. The book  pages have been folded in half vertically. I have same kind of card holder in big size and I love it.

 Hän osti uutta lahjapaperia, mutta löysi viime vuonna ostettujakin. Nyt ainakin paperi riittää.

Makuuhuone Master bedroom

Tein tänään  Mariannen kanssa vanhempien makuuhuoneesta nykyaikaisemman näköisen. Vaihdoimme matot, päiväpeiton ja tyynyt.

Marianne and I made today this master bedroom more modern. We changed the rugs, the bedspread and the cushions.

Peilipöytä ja tarjotinpöytä ovat myös uusia.  Verhot ja pöytälamput pitää vielä vaihtaa, mutta emme nyt ehtineet vielä tarttua niihin.

There are some new furniture: dressingtable and tray table. We have to change the curtains and table lamps, but we are going to do it later.

Marianne on tällä hetkellä tyytyväinen huoneeseen. Tapettien ja lattian vaihtoa on myös suunniteltu, mutta senkin jää keväälle.

Marianne is satisfied with the room now. She has planned that we could change the wallpapers and floor material, too. But that is going to happen next spring.

Olkikuusi Straw Christmas Tree

 Isän huonekin on nyt siivottu. Hänellä on siellä pieni olkikuusi. Se on alunperin ollut oljen värinen olkikoriste, mutta valkoiseksi maalattuna ja helmin koristeltuna se näyttää eri näköiseltä.

Father´s workroom has been cleaned now. Father has there a little straw tree. It has been originally aa yellowish straw christmas tree ornament. But as white and beaded is looks different.

Katossa riippuu oljista tehty himmeli. Se on perinteinen suomalainen joulukoriste.

There is a straw mobile hanging from the ceiling. It is a traditional Finnish Christmas ornament.

Leivotaan Let´s bake

Me suomalaiset syömme paljon leipää. Usein ne on leivottu rukiista, mutta myös muista viljalajeista. Leipoessa tulee usein pöydälle sotkua ja Marianne onkin tässä siivoamassa jälkiään.

We Finns eat a lot of bread. Often it is baked from rye, but also from other cereals. Flour often gets on the table and Marianne is cleaning up it.

Vierashuone Guestroom

Vierashuone on ollut tänään siivousvuorossa. Huoneessa ei ole tapahtunut muutoksia viime aikoina. Joulukaktus alkoi taas kukkia. Joulukaktus kukkii aina samaan aikaan, juuri nyt. Se on ihana.

The guestroom has been cleaned today. There has been no chances in this room lately. The Christmas cactum is in bloom just at the same time of the year, right now. It is lovely.

 Sängyn yläpuolella olevalle hyllylle on lisätty kaksi joulupukkipatsasta.

There are some new Santa Claus statues on the shelf above the bed.

Äiti on hankkinut uusia viininpunaisia kukkia amppeliin.

Mother has bought new vine colored flowers into the hanging flower pot.

Eetun huone Eetu´s room

Eetun huone on myös kokenut muutoksia. Sieltä on vielä suuri määrä leluja vaatehuoneeseen, koska huone oli liian täynnä.

There has been some changes also in Eetu´s room. At first mother had to bring a lot of toys into the walk-in close, because the room was too full.

 Eetu haluaa laittaa esille monenlaisia koristeita. Nämä kaikki ovat kivoja hänen mielestään.

Eetu wanted to have many kinds of things on the chest and bedside table. He likes all these things.

Lumiukko metsässä on myös kiva hänen mielestään.

He likes also this snowman in the forest.

Näistä leluista hän tykkää erityisesti.

These toys are his favourite ones.

 

Tämä koristepuu on hänen koristeistaan kaikista kivoin.

And this tree is the best of his Christmas decorations.

Koristelua Some decoration to do

Meillä Suomessa jouluvalmistelut aloitetaan yleensä Suomen Itsenäisyyspäivän jälkeen. Ensin leivotaan, sitten siivotaan ja vasta sitten koristellaan koti jouluksi.

Emilian aloitti oman huoneensa siivoamisen jo eilen. Tänään koulupäivän jälkeen hän laittoi joulukoristeita esille. Hänellä on paljon punaisia tavaroita. Hänen joulunsa on ehdottomasti punainen.

We in Finland start Christmas preparations usually after Finlands Independence Day. At first we bake then we clean up the house ja after that we decorate our house for Christmas.

Emily started already yesterday cleaning up her room. Today after her schoolday she decorated the room. She has a lot of red things. Her Christmas is definitely red.

Hän huoneensa on aina siisti, joten hän sai helposti ja nopeasti laitettua koristeet.

Her room is always tidy. So it was quite easy and quick to decorate it.

Hän on antanut omia koristeitaan pikkuveljelle, koska monet niistä ovat niin lapsellisia.

She has given her Christmas ornaments to her little brother, because many of them are so childish.

 Poro-koristeesta hän tykkää erityisen paljon. Samoin joulusukasta.

The reideer candle holder is one of her favourites. And the Christmas sock, too.

Hänellä on toisenkin värinen poro-koriste. Siinä on pinkin värisiä helmiä ja kynttilöitä.

She has also another reindeer candle holder. There are pink beadsand candles in it.

Tuikkukynttilöitä Tealights

Tänään on ollut hyvää aikaa tehdä joulukuun suunnitelmia. Joulukuussa olemme yleensä kiireisiä ja tehtävää on paljon. Marianne kirjoittaa paperille to do -listaansa ja selailee keittokirjaansa. Aamulla hän ehti neuloa myös hetken aikaa. Työ jäi keittiön penkille.

It has been a perfect day for making December plans. In December we are usually bysy and there is a lot to do. Marianne is writing down her To do-list and she is browsing her bakingbook. In the morning she had time to knit a while. She left the knit on the bench.
 

Suomen talvi on sininen ja valkoinen.Taivas on sininen ja lumi on valkoinen. Niitä värejä käytetään sisustuksessa Itsenäisyyspäivänä.

Winter is blue and white in Finland. Sky is blue ja snow is white. These colors are used in decoration on Independence Day.

Kynttilänjalka / kynttilälaatikko Candle holder / candle box

Pöydällä on oikeassa reunassa "metallinen" kynttilänjalka / kynttilälaatikko. Halusin tehdä sen omaan nukkekotiini kartongista vuonna 2017, koska se on tosi kivan näköinen. (Olette nähneet tämän kuvan blogissani tuolloin.)
Viime viikonloppuna meillä oli mahdollisuus nähdä Strömsö-ohjelmassa sellaisen tekeminen.

On the right side of the photo there is a metallic candle holder / candle box. I wanted to do it of card stock  for my dollhouse in 2017, because it looked so cool. (You have seen this photo on my blog at that time.)
Last weekend it was possible for us to see, how it can be made. It was the TV-program Strömsö, where it was showed to us.

Kirjoja ja lehtiä Books and magazines

Edellisestä postauksesta on kulunut aikaa.  Tänään Emilian äidillä on ollut vapaapäivä ja hän on viettänyt laatuaikaa kahvikupin ääressä. Hän on kerännyt pöydälle uudet leivontakirjat ja kaksi lehteä.

The latest post was a long time ago. Today Emilia´s mother has had day off. She has spent quality time by drinking coffee and reading her new baking books and magazines.

Hän on kotona yksin ja voi nauttia hiljaisuudesta.

She is alone at home and is enjoying the silence.

Olen täyttänyt keittiön kaappejakin hieman.

There are some new things in the cupboards, too.

Köynnös

Tykästyin lumitähtiin niin paljon, että piti tänäänkin vielä askarrella niiden parissa. Eilenhän niistä kerroin blogikirjoituksessani.Tein takkaa koristamaan köynnöksen, johon niitä liimailin. Idean köynnökseen sain täältä, mutta toteutin sen sitten oman makuni mukaan.
