Hiekkaa Sand

Meillä on ollut koko joulukuun ajan sateista ja kuraista. Hiekkaa tulee kenkien mukana sisälle ja on imuroitava ainakin pari kertaa viikossa.

On hyvä, että lapsilla on tiettyjä kotiaskareita, jotta he oppivat vastuuta. Emilian kotiaskare on imuroiminen. Onko täällä jo tarpeeksi siistiä?   Ainakin Emilian mielestä on.

We've had rain all through December. The shoes bring sand inside and you have to vacuumed at least a couple of times a week.

It is good that children have certain home tasks so that they learn responsibility. Emily's task is vacuuming. Is it clean enough here?  Emily thinks: yes it is.

Eteinen Vestibule

Jouluvalmistelut ovat edenneet eteiseen saakka. Lipaston päälle on ilmestynyt kynttiläasetelma.

The preparations for Christmas have proceeded. In the vestibule on the chest of drawers there is a candle arrangement.
 

Eteinen on ahdas ja vähän hämärä. Ehkä sinne myöhemmin tulee vielä jotain koristeita.

The vestibule is small and dim. Perhaps there will be some decorations later there.

Emilialla oli vähän kiire, kun hän tuli koulusta kotiin. Reppu, lapaset, sukat,pipo ja kaulaliina jäivät lattialle. Hän muisti vasta pari tuntia myöhemmin, että ne täytää laittaa pois.

Emily was in a hurry when she came home from school. Her backpack, mittens, socks, a beanie and a scarf were left on the floor. She remembered a couple of hours later, that she have to put them off.

Joskus iltapäivisin eteisessä on tämän näköistä. Emilian reppu, pipo, kaulaliina ja kengät ovat lattialla. Onkohan Emilian koira Riku syyllinen? Vai miksi täällä on tämän näköistä?

Sometimes in the afternoons the hall looks like this. Emily´s backbag, cap, scarf and shoes are on the floor, here and there. Do you think that Emily´s dog, Riku, is quilty? Or why the hall looks like this?

 
Riku ei tosiaankaan ole syyllinen, vaikka se on odottanutkin Emiliaa koulusta kotiin.  Emilialla oli kova vessahätä ja siksi oli riisuttava nopeasti.  Hän tietää, että eteisen on oltava siistin näköinen ja siksi hän järjestääkin vaatteet naulakkoon, ennen kuin vanhemmat tulevat töistä.

Riku is quilty under no circumstances. He waits for Emily every afternoon from school. Emily was in hurry to go to the toilet and that is why she had to take off the clothes quickly. She knows, that the hall has to be tidy when the parents arrive from the job.

Pakkasta on viime päivinä ollut yli -20 astetta. On ollut entistä tärkeämpää, että pukeutuu lämpimästi koulumatkoille. Äiti virkkasikin Emilialle villatakin, joka mahtuu hyvin takin alle.

It  has been bery cold recently, over -20 degrees. It has been so important to dress up warmly when going to school. Mother crocheted a cardigan for Emily. It it ment to be worn under the coat.
