Syystunnelmia keittiössä Autumn feelings in the kitchen

 

Sunnuntai-aamut ovat Emilian kotona kiireettömiä. Kaikki perheenjäsenet ehtivät syödä kaikessa rauhassa. Muina aamuina varsinkin äidillä on liian kiire.

There is no hurry on Sunday mornings at Emily´s. All family members have time to eat in peace. On other mornings, especially mom is too busy.

Marianne-äiti on stailannut keittiötä syksyisen näköiseksi. Keltainen, oranssi ja ruskea ovat syksyn värejä.

Mother Marianne has styled the kitchen with autumn colors. Yellow, orange and brown are the colors of autumn.

 Emilian mielestä on hauskaa, että keittiö näyttää värikkäämmältä kuin tavallisesti.

Emily thinks it is nice that the kitchen is much colorful than usually.

Kurpitsat ovat hienoja koristeita. Emilia halusi niitä monen kokoisia.

Pumpkins are great decorations. Emily wanted many sizes of them.

Pöytälamppu Table lamp

 

Nukkekodissani ei ole valaistusta, enkä ole perehtynyt sen toteuttamiseen. Olisi kuitenkin kiva, että olisi valaistus, koska päivän pituus on lyhentynyt jo monella tunnilla ja sateen vuoksi on niin hämärää.

Tuomolla on uusi ostettu LED-pöytälamppu. Hän on tyytyväinen sen hyvään valaistustehoon. Valaisin sopii hänen työpöydälleen mainiosti.

There is no lightning in my dollhouse and I haven´t found out how to make it. However, it would be nice to have lighting because the length of the day has been shortened by many hours and it is so dim because of the rain.

Tuomo has a new purchased LED table lamp. He is pleased with its good lighting power. The lamp fits her desk perfectly.

Syystunnelma Autumn mood

 

Marianne ja Tuomo katselevat televisiota. Pian alkaa heidän suosikkiohjelmansa MasterChef Australia. Kilpailijat ovat heille tuttuja aikaisemmista ohjelmista ja heissä on mukavia persoonia. Uudet tuomarit ovat onnistuneet tehtävässään hyvin.

Marianne and Tuomo are watching TV. Their favourite program MasterChef Australia is starting soon. They know the competitors from the previos years and there are lovely persons among them. The new judges have succeeded in their task very well.

Eetu ja Emiliakin ovat tulleet katsomaan. Mutta heitä ohjelma ei kauaa kiinnostanut.

Eetu and Emily have arrived too to watch the program. But they were not interested in it.

Äiti on stailannut olohuonetta kurpitsoilla ja tekstiileillä.

Mother has styled the living room with pumpkins and textiles.

Piirongin päällä on valkoisia kurpitsoita ja arkun päällä oransseja ja kellertäviä.

There are white pumpkins on the cabinet and orange and yellowish pumpkins on the chest.

Farkkuhame Denim skirt

 

Joskus on vaikea päättää, mitä laittaisi päälleen töihin lähtiessä. Tätä ongelmaa ei Mariannella ollut tänään, koska hän oli ommellut itselleen uuden farkkuhameen. Se on juuri sopiva valinta tälläisena sumuisena päivänä.

Sometimes it is difficult to decide, how to dress up when you go to work. Marianne did not have this kind of problem today, because she had sewn a new denim skirt for herself. It it a perfect choice on such a foggy day.

Kasvio Herbarium

 

 Sanni on tullut kyläilemään. Emilia haluaa näyttää hänelle paksua kansiota, joka on eräänlainen kasvio.

Sanni has arrived to visit Emily. Emily wants to show her a thick binder, which is a sort of herbarium.

Emilia esittelee Sannille innoissaan pihalta keräämiään ja kuivaamiaan lehtiä ja kasveja, jotka hän on liimannut kartongille.

Emily is very excited and she shows the leaves and plants she has collected from the yard and dried and then glued to cardboard.

Emilia kertoo, että hän on kerännyt paljon näitä lehtiä. He voisivat tehdä Sannillekin samanlaisen kasvion. Sitten tytöt alkoivat ahkeroimaan.

Emily tells that she has collected a lot of these leaves. They could do also a same kind of herbarium for Sanni, too. Then they started.

Lopulta he saivat Sanninkin kasvion valmiiksi. He suunnittelivat, että voisivat kerätä huomenna koulupäivän jälkeen lisää lehtiä.

They finished Sanni´s herbarium at last. They planned they could collect more leavas tomorrow after the school.

 

 

Ruskalehtiä Autumn leaves

 

    Kesä on muuttunut syksyksi meillä Suomessa. Puiden lehdet, varsinkin vaahteran lehdet, ovat muuttuneet värikkäiksi.

    Realistisen näköisiä minivaahteranlehtiä on helppo tehdä tuoreista lehdistä. Ne näyttävät kauniilta.

Summer has turned into autumn here in Finland. The leaves, especially maple leaves, have turned red, yellow, brown etc.

It is easy to make realistic mini maple leaves from fresh maple leaves.They look beautiful.

Leikkaa lehdestä sopivan kokoinen pala saksilla ja aseta pala paperilävistimeen. Katso lävistimen alapuolelta, että lehtisuonet ovat oikeissa kohdissa. Halutessasi voit kuivattaa lehtiä paperin välissä painon alla muutaman päivän.

Cut  a small piece of a leaf with scissors and put it into paper punch. Watch from the back side of the punch to see that the leaf veins are in the right place. If you want you can drie leaves between a sheet of paper under some books or weight some days.

Ystävä Friend

 

Mariannella oli eilen illalla hänen uusi ystävänsä vierailulla. Häntä varten Marianne oli leiponut raparperipiirakan ja sen kanssa tarjottiin kermavaahtoa. Marianne oli pominut myös tuoreita luumuja puutarhastaan.

Marianne had yesterday evening a visit from her new friend. Marianne had baked a rhubarb pie with whipped cream. Marianne had picked also fresh plums from her garden.

 

On ihanaa, että hän vihdoinkin löysi sellaisen ystävän, joka on kiinnostunut samanlaisista asioista.

It is so lovely that she finally found a friend who is interested in same kind of things.
 

 Ystävällä on samoja harrastuksia kuin Mariannella. Hän neuloo, virkkaa, ompelee ja askartelee.

Her friend has same kind of hobbies than Marianne.  She knits, crochets, sews and crafts.

Marianne on iloinen. He voisivat tehdä yhdessä monenlaisia asioita.

Marianne is glad. They could attend to many kind of activities together

 

Staying at home 5

Emilian perhe on ostanut lisää remonttitarvikkeita ja rakennustarvikkeita. Nyt remontoitiin isän työhuonetta hieman. Seinille laitettiin uusi tapetti ja lattia maalattiin vähän tummemmaksi. Isän kirjoituspöytä ei ole ollut kovin käytännöllinen,koska siinä ei ole ollut laatikoita.

Emily´s family has bought more supplies for decorating and building. Now it was father´s workshop in turn. There is a new wallpaper on the walls and the floor has been painted a little bit darker.  Father´s desk has not beenvery practical because there has been no drawers in it.

Työhuoneessa ei ole aikaisemmin ollut minkäänlaista nojatuolia, jossa olisi voinut istua ja lukea. Uusi nojatuoli on vaatimattoman näköinen, mutta mukava. Sen vieressä on puinen laatikko kirjoja ja lehtiä sekä lukulamppua varten.

There has been no armchair before now in the room for sitting and reading.The new armchair is modest but comfort. For books and magazines there is a wooden box next to the armchair. 

Nojatuolilla on viileitä päiviä varten neulottu peite. Marianne neuloi sen muutamassa päivässä.

There is a knitted blanket on the armchair for chilly days. Marianne knitted it in a couple of days.

Isällä ei ole ollut myöskään hyvää säilytystilaa tavaroilleen. Hänen entinen kaappinsa ei ollut käytännölinen. Tämä lipasto on parempi, sillä tavaroita on helppo ottaa siitä.

Father has not have a good cabinet for his things. His wardrobe was not practical. This cabinet is better because it is easy to take things.

Lipaston päällä on hänen muistoesineitään: kello, koristekitara ja puinen rasia.

On the cabinet there are father´s mementoes: a clock, a miniquitar and a wooden box.

Hänellä on myös pieni kaappi juomilleen. Taskumatti ja kupit sekä Hotapulveri ovat lahjoja Leenalta.

Father has also a small cabinet for his drinks. His hip flask, cups and  headache medicine are gifts from Leena.

Staying at home 4

Marianne ja minä rakastamme tuoreita kukkia. Puutarhassani kukkii valtava määrä skilloja ja violetteja krookuksia. Ne ovat niin ihania!

Marianne and I love fresh flowers. In my garden there are a lot of scillas and violet crocuses. They are so lovely!

Staying at home 3

Mitä sinä syöt lohturuokana nyt? Emilia ja Eetu rakastavat pannukakkuja hillon ja kermavaahdon kanssa.Sekä tietenkin kylmän maidon kanssa.

What do you like to eat as comfort food now? Emily and Eetu love pancakes with jam and whipped cream and of course with cold milk.

Mutta jonkun oli tehtävä pannukatkut ensin. Emilia tietää, miten niitä tehdään. Mutta hän ei ollut aivan varma kaikista vaiheista. Joten hän ei antanut Eetun sekaantua tähän tärkeään tehtävään.
Pannukakut onnistuivat täydellisesti!

But somebody has to make the pancakes at first. Emily knows how to make them. But she was not quite sure about all details. She did not allow Eetu to interfere with this important task.
The pancakes succeeded perfectly!

Staying at home 2

Viime viikkoina on monissa kodeissa alettu remontoimaan, koska vanhemmat saattavat olla kotona. Eetunkin vanhemmat eivät ole ole joka päivä kotona ja tästä syystä Eetun huoneessa aloitettiin remontti. Lattiaan on laitettu puulattia ja seinät on tapetoitu uudestaan. Lisäksi on tehty uusia huonekaluja.
Eetu on pelannut lattialla Afrikan tähti -lautapeliä.Se on koko perheen suosikkipeli.

During the last weeks many families have started renovation in their homes, because the parents may be home. Eetu´s parents are not working every day and that is why they started renovating Eetu´s room. The floor is made of boards now and the wall are papered with a new wallpaper. Father made also some new furniture for him.
Eetu has played a boardcame called "The star of Africa". It is very popular came in this family.

Eetulla on uusi sänky, koska vanha sänky jäi hänellelyhyeksi. Hän on kasvanut pituutta viime kuukausina paljon. Sänky on pyökkiä. Päiväpeitto ja tyynyt ovat myös uusia. Marianne-äiti ompeli ne. Seinällä oleva seinävaate on Anjan tekemä. Pöllötyynyt ovat myös äidin tekemiä. Ne ovat vanhoja.

Eetu has a newbed,because the old one became too short for him.  He has grown in recent months a lot. The bed is made of beech. The bedspread and pillows are also new. Mother sewed them. The tapestry on the wall is made by Anja. The owlpillows are made by mother. They are old ones.

Yöpöytä ja valaisin ovat vanhoja. Eetu tykkää valaisimesta erityisen paljon.koska se on hauskan näköinen.

The bedside table and the lamp are Eetu´s old things. He likes the lamp very much, because it looks funny.

Eetu on pelannut korteilla pienen pöydän ääressä. Hän ei osaa pelata niillä yksin. Hänellä pitäisi olla joku kaveri. Emilia ei ehdi pelata hänen kanssaan, sillä hänellä on paljon koulutehtäviä. Pöytä ja jakkarat ovat Eetunvanhoja huonekalujaan.

Eetu has been playing cards at a small table. He can't play with them alone. He should have some friend to play with. Emily hasn´t time to play with him, because she has a lot of school homework on her job. The table and stools are his old furnitures.

 

 Eetu tahtoi myös uuden kirjahyllyn. Sekin on pyökkiä. Siihen mahtuu niin kirjat kuin osa leluistakin.

Eetu wanted to get also a new bookcase.It is made of beech, too. He has put his books and some of his toys on the shelves.

Leluja Eetulla onkin paljon. Niillä on ollut mukava leikkiä nyt.

Eetu has many toys. It is so fun to play with them, now.

Eetu sai uuden koulupöydänkin. En muista kertoneeni, että Eetu käy jo koulua. Tällä hetkellä lähes kaikki koulut ovat Suomessa kuitenkin suljettuja ja oppilaat käyvät kotikoulua. He kuuntelevat opettajaa tietokoneen välityksessä aamuisin kotona.
Pöytä on pyökkiä. Tuoli on lainattu äidin ompeluhuoneesta nyt, mutta Eetu saa itselleen oman tuolin myöhemmin.

Eetu got a new desk, too. I Think I have not told you Eetu is a scoolboy, already. At the moment nearly all the schools are closed in Finland but the pupils are attending to the homeschool.They listen to the teacher via the computer in the mornings at home.
The table is made of beech, too. The chair is from mothers sewing room. But Eetu will get a new chair later.

Näin ihana poika Eetu on. Aikaisemmissa postauksissa hän on eri poika, sillä olen saanut lahjaksi Heidi Ott-nuken, joka vastaa paremmin Eetun ikää. Eetu on saanut myös koululaiselle sopivat vaatteet.

This is how wonderful boy Eetu is. In the previous posts Eetu is a different boy (doll). Now I have received a Heidi Ott doll as a gift, which matches better his age. Eetu has also received clothes  that are suitable for aschoolboy.

 

Staying at home

 Mitä Sinä teet kotona juuri nyt? Ompeletko maskeja, kuten Marianne?

What do you do at home just now. Do you sew masks like Marianne?

  Vai neulotko tai luetko jotain?

Or do you knit or read something?

Vai katseletko ja ihailetko kukkiasi?

Or do you watch or admire your flowers?

Minä teen Mariannen tavoin kaikkia näitä tänään. Ne ovat minun lempijuttujani. Mitä Sinä teet?

I do all these things today, too. Like Marianne. They are my favourite things. What do you do?

Makuuhuone Bedroom

Isovanhempien talossa on tapahtunut hieman edistystä. Olen  tapetoinut makuuhuoneen ja tehnyt sinne lattian. Olen tehnyt myös huonekaluja, mattoja ja sänkytekstiilit.

Some progress has been made in the grandparents' house. The walls of their bedroom have been wallpapered and the floor has been maid. I have made also some furniture, rugs and textiles for their double bed.

Aloitin sängystä. Se on kevytrakenteinen.

I started with the bed. It is a lightweight wooden bed.

Sängyn patja on pehmeä ja mukava.

The mattress of the bed is soft and comfortable.

Ompelin  ½ tuuman hexagoneista päiväpeitteen sekä mattoja. Hexagonien ompelu on aika hidasta puuhaa, koska kangas harsitaan pahvin ympärille ja ompelun jälkeen pahvi poistetaan. Lisäksi tein tyynyjä.

The bedspread is made of ½ inch hexagons.( I made also same kind of rugs and some pillows.)

Sängyn yläpuolella on vuosi sitten kirjomani kukkataulu.

The embroidered flower picture is made by me a year ago. 

Isovanhemmat tarvitsivat myös yöpöydät ja pöytälamput. Pöytien malli on tavallinen perusmalli.

The grandparents needed also bedside tables and table lamps. The model of the tables is an ordinary basic model.

Isoäiti rakastaa kukkia ja hän halusi kukkapylvään. Yläosassa olevan koristeet ovat pahvisesta viuhkasta.

Grandma loves flowers and she wanted a flower stand. The decorations of it are from a cardstock fan.

Pönttöuuni on tarpeellinen, koska Suomen talvet voivat olla hyvin kylmiä.

The stove is needful, because the winters in Finland can be very cold.

Makuuhuoneessa on myös vaatekaappi. Sitä en ole tehnyt itse. Aion maalatasen tummanruskeaksi, sillä en tykkää sen punertavasta väristä.

There is a wardrobe in the bedroom, too. I have bought it. I am not satisfied with the colour of it, because it is too red. I am going to paint it with dark brown paint.
