Syntymäpäivä Birthday

 

Marianne viettää tänään syntymäpäiväänsä. Päivä ei ole ollut yhtään iloinen, sillä uutiset ovat kuluvan kuukauden aikana olleet päivittäin surullisia Ukrainan sodan vuoksi.

 

Marianne has celebrated her birthday today. The day has not been at all happy, as the news has been sad every day this month over the war in Ukraine.

Kahvipöytä on katettu sinikuvioisin astioin ja pikkuliinat ja täytekakku ovat keltaiset. (Ukrainan lipun värithän ovat sininen ja keltainen.)  Näillä kuvilla osallistumme hyväntekeväisyyshaasteeseen. Vaikka Mariannella on juhlapäivä, ei perhe ole unohtanut, miten etuoikeutettuja he ovat juuri nyt.

The coffee table has blue-colored dishes and tablets, and the cake is yellow. (The colors of the Ukrainian flag are blue and yellow.) With these pictures, we are participating in a charity challenge. Even though Marianne has a holiday, the family has not forgotten how privileged they are right now.

Hitaasti Slowly

 

 

Pukeutumishuoneen sisustaminen on edennyt taas hieman. Tein  sinne seinäpeilin ja konsolipöydän, jotka ovat kustavilaistyylisiä. 

The work in the dressing room has progressed a little again. I made a wall mirror and a console table there, which are Gustavian style.

 

Kustavilaisuudella tai kustavilaisella tyylillä tarkoitetaan ruotsalaista uusklassismia, joka vaikutti kuningas Kustaa III:n (hallitsi 1771-1792) ja hänen poikansa Kustaa IV Aadolfin (hallitsi 1796-1809) halliontokausille eli kustavilaisella ajalla. 

Gustavian or Gustavian style refers to Swedish neoclassicism that influenced the reigns of King Gustav III (ruled 1771-1792) and his son Kustav IV Adolf (ruled 1796-1809) during the Gustavian period.

 

Viime päivinä on monissa perheissä seurattu uutisia hyvin tarkasti. Meissä suomalaisissakin on herännyt valtava auttamishalu ukrainalaisia kohtaan. Sympatiamme ovat heidän puolellaan.

 

In recent days, many families have been following the news very closely. We Finns have also a huge desire to help Ukrainians. Our sympathies are on their side.

 

 

Näillä kuvilla Emilia ja muut perheenjäsenet haluavat ilahduttaa teitä. Viettäkää aikaa perheittenne kanssa! Voitte vaikka leipoa yhdessä jotain herkullista. Emilia unohti pahan mielensä tekemällä laseihin kakku- ja pikkuleipämuruista herkullisen jälkiruuan, jossa on keltaisia ja sinisiä marjoja. Äiti on leiponut pullia, joissa on päällä sitruunan makuista maitorahkaa ja persikkasiivuja. 

Ukrainan lipussa on sinistä ja keltaista. Tämän vuoksi keittiö on koristeltu näillä väreillä.

With these pictures, Emily and the rest of the family want to delight you. Spend time with your family! You could for example bake something delicious. Emily forgot her bad mood by making a delicious dessert. It contains crumbles of cakes and biscuits and some yeallow and blue berries. Her mother has baked buns topped with lemon-flavored curd and peach slices.

You can find blue and yellow in the flag of Ukraine. That is why the kitchen is decorated with these colours.

Keltaiset tulppaanit tuovat mielen auringon ja kevään. Meilläkin lumi on alkanut sulaa ja pian puutarhasta löytyy keltaisia tulppaaneja.

Yellow tulips bring to mind the sun and spring. The snow is starting to melt and soon there will be yellow tulips in the garden as well.

Edistystä Some progress

Olen tehnyt muutamia uusia tavaroita vanhempien makuuhuoneeseen. Vaihdoin myös matot. Ne ovat nyt paremmat kuin aikaisemmat,mutta eivät täydelliset. Aion kirjoa tai ostaa uudet matot myöhemmin. Ruskea väri näyttää kyllä hyvältä täällä.

I have made some small things to the master bedroom. I changed the rugs, too. They are better than the former ones, but not perfect. I am going to make or buy later new ones. The brown colour is nice here.

Sivupöydällä on kaksi uutta tavar aa: toimimaton pöytälamppu ja pieni metallinen rasia.

 

There are two new things on the sidetable: a non-working table lamp and a small metal box.

Tein myöskin vaalean punaiset tohvelit talon emännälle.

I made also a pair of pink slippers for the lady of the house.

 

Olen tapetoinut myös makuuhuoneen vieressä olevan kapean huoneen. Se on pukeutumishuone. Tein sinne myös kustavilaistyylisen vaatekaapin ja istuimen. Aion tehdä myös peilin ja konsolipöydän istuinta vastapäätä.

I have also wallpapered the narrow room next to the bedroom. It is a dressing room. I also made a Gustavian-style wardrobe and seat there. I will also make a mirror and a console table opposite the seat.

 

Vaatekaappi on tapetoitu samalla tapetilla kuin mitä on seinissä.

 The wardrobe is wallpapered with the same wallpaper as what is on the walls.

Tekemäni istuin  on myös kustavilaistyylinen eli 1700-luvulta. Istuin näyttää kuluneelta.

 The seat I made is also Gustavian style, i.e. from the 18th century. The seat looks pretty worn.

Uusi projekti A new project

 

 

Olen aloittanut uuden projektin. Nimittäin kokonaan uuden talon sisustamisen. ( Aion tehdä muutoksia talon rakenteisiin, mutta en ole vielä varma miten niitä teen, joten näytän talon myöhemmin teille.)

 

Aloitin vanhempien makuuhuoneesta. Se sijaisee uuden nukkekodin ullakolla, toisessa päässä taloa. Huone on kooltaan pieni, mutta sinne mahtuu hyvin parisänky, yöpöydät, äidin kampauspöytä, pieni sivupöytä ja pari jakkaraa.

Sisustus tulee olemaan pääosin vintage-tyylinen.Toki mukana tulee olemaan nykyaikaisiakin tavaroita.Olen tehnyt kaikki tämän huoneen huonekalut ja tavarat itse.

 

I have started a new project. It is a new house and I am going to  furnish and decorate it.( I am going to make some modifications to structures, but I am not sure of how to do them. So I show the house later to you.)

 

I started from the parents' bedroom. It is located in the attic of a new dollhouse, at one end of the house. The room is small in size, but it can accommodate a double bed, bedside tables, mother's dressing table, small side table and a couple of stools.  

The interior will be mostly vintage style. Of course, there will also be modern goods. I have made all the furniture and goods for this room myself.  

 

Äidin kampauspöytä on isosta nukkekodistani ja se sopii tänne paremmin kuin sinne.

Mother´s dressing table is from my big dollhouse but it fits better here than there.

Pieni sivupöytä on kooltaan juuri sopivan kokoinen tähän kohtaan.  Matto tulee vaihtumaan sitten, kun saan kirjottua uuden romanttisemman maton tähän.

The small side table is just the right size for this point. The rug will change when I get embroidered with a new, more romantic rug for this.

Uudenvuodenpäivä New Year´s Day

 

Uudenvuoden aattona tai ensimmäisenä päivänä uutta vuotta valetaan yleensä hevosenkengän muotoisia tinoja. Mikäli haluat tietää, millainen sinun uusi vuotesi tulee olemaan, kokeile tätä menetelmää. Tinojen valaminen on alkavan vuoden tapahtumien ennustamista aina kyseisen henkilön osalta. Itse asiassa tinakengät sulatetaan kauhassa keittolevyn päällä. Ne sulavat nestemäiseksi. Tälläistä tinanvalantaperinnettä tavataan ainakin Pohjoismaissa,Saksassa ja Itävallassa.

 

On New Year´s Eve or on New Year´s Day we have a very fun tradition to do. If you want to know what your new year will be like, try this method.It´s about divination. It is known as melting tiny horseshoes made out of tin. The tin is melted in a ladle on a hotplate. This kind of tradition is wellknown in the Nordic countries,Germany and Austria.

Ennen kuin aloitat sulattamisen, täytä vesämpäriin noin 7 litraa vettä. Sulanut tina kaadetaan kauhasta vesiämpäriin noin 10 senttimetrin korkeudelta. Kaataminen pitää tapahtua aika nopeasti. Neste muuttuu vedessä kiinteäksi ja se saa uudenlaisen muodon, josta ennustaminen tapahtuu.

Before starting the melting fill a bucket with about 7 litres of water. The molten tin is poured from the ladle into a bucket of water. Pouring needs to happen pretty quickly abount 10 centimeters above the bucket. The liquid will be back to solid state and it will acquire some kind of new form

 

Emilia ja Eetu huusivät äitiä, jotta hän tulisi tulkitsemaan syntyneet esineet. Äitikään ei osaa kertoa kovin paljoa, mutta esimerkiksi lintu tarkoittuu,että seuraavan 12 kuukauden aikana saatat olla onnekas ja matkustaa johonkin. Kun taas sormus tarkoittaa avioliittoa. Hevonen tarkoittaa onnistumista liiketoimissa. Sydämen saaminen tarkoittaa mielihyvää jne.

Emily and Eetu shouted at mother to come and interpret the objects. Mom can't tell you much either, but for example, getting a bird means that during the following 12 months you will be lucky and that you will travel. Meanwhile, a ring indicates marriage.A house means success in business and a heart means pleasure.

Uudenvuoden aatto New Year´s Eve

 

Keittiössä tuoksuu taas ruoka. Nyt on katettu uudenvuoden aaton illallinen.

The food smells again in the kitchen. New Year's Eve dinner is now available.

Marianne leipoi2 iso pizzaa, patonkia ja muutaman sämpylän. Isä ja lapset ovat kyllästyneitä jouluruokiin. He voivat valita, syövätkö pizzaa vai keitettyjä perunoita, lihapullia ja nakkeja.

Marianne baked  two big pizzas, a baguette and a few rolls. Dad and kids are tired of Christmas food. They can choose between the pizza slices and boiled potatoes, meatballs and sausages.

 

Lihapullat ja nakit ovat arkiruokaa, mutta lapset haluaisivat niitäkin tänään.

 

Meatballs and sausages are everyday food, but children would like to have also them today.

 

Kaikilla on kova nälkä. Voitteko uskoa?

Everyone is very hungry. Can you believe?

 

Iltaa on vietettävä nyt kotona perheen kesken, koska tautitilanne on nyt huono.

The evening must now be spent at home with the family, because the disease situation is now bad.  

 Lapset eivät ole juoneet Coca-Colaa pitkään aikaan, mutta nyt heillä on yksi pullollinen. Vanhemmat juovat valkoviintä. Tarjolla on myös juustoja,viinirypäleitä ja suolakeksejä.

The kids haven’t drunk Coca-Cola for a long time, but they have one bottle now.  Parents drink white wine. Cheeses, grapes and crackers are also available.
